Оба прилагательные употребляются с существительными, обозначающими человеческое тело и его части, части помещения и отдельные его элементы, ландшафт и его компоненты. Bare и naked различаются по степени и характеру непокрытости. Bare предполагает любое, как частичное, так и полное, отсутствие покрытия, одежды, растительности. Нередко использование прилагательного bare сопряжено со скудностью, недостатком, нуждой, лишением. В сочетаниях bare feet босые ноги; bare arms оголенные руки; bare shoulders (heads) обнаженные плечи (головы); bare hands голые, ничем не вооруженные руки; bare to the waist обнаженный до пояса, неявно предполагается, что обычно эти части тела прикрыты. Naked, в отличие от bare, как правило, предполагает полное отсутствие одежды, обстановки, убранства, растительности. Употребление naked не связано с подчеркиванием недостатков. Тоже имеет место при переносном употреблении этих слов: bare truth голая/ничем не приукрашенная правда, в то время как naked truth простая/всем ясная/понятная правда; bare style скупой стиль; naked style простой и ясный стиль, что определяет показательную непарность сочетаний: bare facts голые/без каких-либо деталей факты; to earn a bare living зарабатывать столько, что едва хватает на жизнь в отличие от naked dictatorship (exploitation) явное диктаторство (явная/неприкрытая эксплуатация); to see smth with one's naked eye видеть что-либо невооруженным глазом; naked flame открытое пламя
